Wabi-Sabi Mexico

“If an object or expression can bring about, within us,
a sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be said to be wabi-sabi.”

“Being surrounded by natural, changing, unique objects helps us connect to our real world and escape potentially stressful distractions.

Wabi-Sabi is a comprehensive japanese world view or aesthetic. Wabi-Sabi is the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. It is the beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional. Wabi-Sabi is
all about capturing a moment, a true essence of simple things and life.

Mexico is a powerful mixture of ancient Mayan culture, Spanish impact and
Mexican way of life. Mexico is colorful, spicy and unpredictable. The history
of Mexico is full of stories wich are the greatest and wildest in the history of humankind.

Wabi-Sabi México exhibition combines japanese aesthetics with the colorful, rustic and suprising land of Mexico. The exhibition is a launch to the II Mexican Cultural Week 10–24th September.

The photographs of Mats Vuorenjuuri have reached the light with the support of the Embassy of Mexico and Canon Oy. The photos are printed with Canon large format printer to canvas material. This material adds a third dimension and structure to the vivid photos. In recent years the development of printing techniques and materials has created new ways of using photography and graphic design in homes, offices and communications.
